The compulsory online Intensive German courses always start 4 weeks before the semester begins.

Welcome Reception (mandatory) in the week before the lectures starts.

1 sehr gut

(very good) is the best possible grade and is given for outstanding performance

4 ausreichend

(sufficient) is the lowest passing grade and is given if the standard has been met but with a number of notable errors

 

5 mangelhaft

(deficient) is the higher of two failing grades and is given if the standard has not been met but the basics have been understood

Required for Architecture, IMIAD, Urban Planning and Interior Architectural Design.

MOTIVATION LETTER

Required for General Management, Business Psychology and Business Management

TEACHING LANGUAGE

Official teaching language is German with some courses of Architecture, Interior Architecture, Business Management and General Management taught in English.

The following Master degree programs are completely taught in English:

  • Software Technology
  • Photogrammetry & Geoinformatics
  • International Master of Interior Architectural Design (IMIAD)

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

Courses conducted in English in our Business School:

  • B2 Common European Framework of Reference
  • score of at least 80 TOEFL-iBT
  • overall band score of at least 6 IELTS (with a minimum band score of 6.0 in writing and speaking and 6.0 in reading and listening)

We offer four-week German Intensive courses prior to each semester as well as a wide range of German courses during each semester.

    FOOD

    A cafeteria (Studierendenwerk Stuttgart) serving snacks and small hot meals is located in the main building.
    The main student dining hall serves lunch from Monday to Friday.

    LIVING EXPENSES

    In general, students will need about 1.000 € monthly to cover their living expenses:

    • rent: approx. 310 € to 385 € per month
    • health insurance: 120 € per month
    • public transportation: 200 € per semester
    • food: approx. 180 € per month
    • miscellaneous: approx. 150 € per month

    VISA (for non-EU citizens)

    Obtaining a visa for Germany takes at least 6 weeks. We recommend applying for a visa 6-8 weeks before departure to avoid late arrival.

    • B.A. and M.A. students
    • Of all study programmes within the study areas “Architecture and Design”, “Civil Engineering, Building Physics and Business Management” and “Geomatics, Computer Science and Mathematics”
    • Level B2 English Language skills since the program is in English
    • International students and German HFT-students, max. 25 students in total

    • German Culture and Language: a course for all levels in- and outside the classroom (international students only) – 12h
    • Managing International Projects Workshop (all students) – 10h
    • Group Project in an international team (all students) – up to 12,5 h
    • Company visits & expert talks (all students)
    • Cultural program in Stuttgart and area, city tour through Stuttgart (all students), two excursions/day trips to cities in Southern Germany

    • Overnight stay in single room with shared bathroom, including breakfast in the International Student Hotel Stuttgart for 15 nights
    • German Language Course, Intercultural Workshop, company visits
    • Cultural program in Stuttgart and area, city tour through Stuttgart, two excursions/day trips to cities in Southern Germany (Heidelberg and Tübingen) (bus, train, guided tours, entrance fees)
    • Catering at the Welcome and Farewell Event
    • Public transport within Stuttgart (02.-16.08.)
